Original musical
Linwood High School will present an original musical based on the story of Noah. The show, called “Flood,” was written by two teachers at the school, John Kim and Tony Ryan. Mr Kim, who was the producer, died suddenly 10 days ago, and the production has been postponed for a week. It will now run from August 15 to 18. The play begins with Noah’s 597th birthday and
the command to build the Ark. The story follows the building of the Ark, the doubts and skepticism, and the loading of the family and animals. The phoenix and the moa are among the animal and bird section of the cast. Tony Ryan has provided the music to John Kim’s story. Marleen LeCren choreographed the dances and Peter Lees-Jeffries de-
signed the Amish-type garb for the humans. The animals wear masks and costumes. Grant Williams has schooled the singers. A specially designed boatshaped stage, 20m by 9m, has been built on three levels. The cast recently spent a week-end camp working on the show, with the school’s orchestra.
