$45,000 to help exhibition
PA Wellington The Government had agreed to contribute $45,000 towards the cost of staging Te Maori exhibition in Chicago next year, said the Acting Prime Minister, Mr Palmer. The Ambassador to the United States, Sir Wallace Rowling, had sent a “very interesting communication” emphasising the impact it had made after its opening in San Francisco and what a great promotion it was for New Zealand, he said. A Chicago museum had been anxious to hold the exhibition and had raised nearly $1 million. The Government felt it was appropriate to contribute $45,000 so that Te Maori exhibition could be held there next March, Mr Palmer said.
