Fish exports may pass $100M

PA Auckland New Zealand’s airfreighted fish exports could pass ?100 million for the first time this year, according to a fish exporting authority. The president of the New Zealand Fish Exporters’ Association, Dr Ross Armstrong, told the Auck--IS9NI Rotary Club that total fit* exports could exceed 90* million.

In 1984, New Zealand had exported 5450 million worth of fish, 565.1 million of it air-freighted. Last year’s 8,159,000 kilograms of fresh chilled seafood exports represented the largest movement of such seafood from any country in the world. Dr Armstrong said the main export markets were Australia, Japan, and the United States.
