New member of Petrocorp board
PA Wellington The Mayor of New Plymouth, Mr David Lean, has been appointed to the board of Petrocorp. The Minister of Energy, Mr Tizard, and the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, said Mr Lean’s appointment would fill a vacancy on the Petrocorp board that had resulted from the death of former board member, Mr Paul Fried, in April. Mr Fried’s appointment as a Petrocorp board member was made only four days before his death. Mr Lean’s appointment will be for a term of two years nine months. The ex-
piry of his term will coincide with those of other recently appointed new board members. Messrs Douglas and Tizard said Mr Lean’s extensive involvement in Taranaki energy matters, local body affairs, and community involvement would be “very valuable” to Petrocorp. Mr Lean, who is 36, has been Mayor of New Plymouth since 1980 and is a member of several Taranaki local bodies. He is an executive member of the Municipal Association.
