Rugby tour opponent

Sir,—The allegations made by Mr Robert Stanley (June 29) are misleading, and typify the hysteria that accompanies any publicity of black people working for change. The United Democratic Front, through Mr Stofile, warns that the All Black tour will only intensify problems within South Africa. Mr Stanley errs in presuming that Mr Stofile wants to kill All Blacks.

There is no intention deliberately to kill players. Protests have been planned by local people, and given the usual South African police tactics, these will be bloody. Stray bullets will not stop for New Zealand rugby players. Mr Stofile does not hate whites. He simply demands dignity and respect for all people, regardless of colour. — Yours, etc., PETER LIMBRICK. June 30, 1985.
