The Mayor of Waitemata, Mr Tim Shadbolt, was met at Christchurch Airport yesterday by a chauffeur-driven limousine, complete with a concrete mixer in tow. Mr Shadbolt was the guest speaker at the two-day Hertz Rent-a-Car annual conference, which opened at the Chateau Regency yesterday. Soon after Mr Shadbolt’s election as Mayor of Waitemata, in 1983, he kept an election pledge to use the Mayoral Daimler to tow his concrete mixer.
