Warning to cricket rebels

NZPA-AAP Canberra Australia’s rebel cricketers should be prepared for violence when they tour South Africa later this year, a representative of the African National Congress, Mr Eddie Funde, has warned.

Speaking at the National Press Club, Mr Funde supported the A.N.C. conference resolution in Lusaka which said that New Zealand’s All Black rugby team would have only itself to blame if its members’ lives were endangered on their forthcoming visit to South Africa. The tours were a clear political statement in support of a racist regime, Mr Funde said.
