Forest Service

Sir,—Having spent many hours on a Forestry Advisory Board and tramping, throughout 'New Zealand for 60 years, I know how much the Forest Service and the men and women within the department care for their country. For many years they have carried out conservation and regard for the environment over and above everything else. It is a pity that the ignorant, noisy minority who want to change and close forests to the very people who own them, we New Zealanders, have not served a term on an Advisory Committee and found out how much foresters care. They are not allowed to defend themselves. It seems to me that we are replacing two titles with two more, making a lot of work and confusion.—Yours, etc., VIDA LUCOCK. June 29, 1985.
