SENIOR LECTURER IN ORAL PATHOLOGY— P.851003/85 (Dentistry Department) Applications are Invited from persons who possess a basic dental degree from a recognised University and an appropriate postgraduate qualification in Oral Pathology (e.g. MDS, MSc, MRC Path or Ph.D). Considerable teaching and research experience with publications in the field of Oral Pathology is essential. Duties include teaching Oral Pathology and Oral Biology in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the Department of Dentistry and providing histopathology reporting and consultancy services to the Faculty of Medicine and Ministry of Health. 2. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PHYSICSP.131003/85 Candidates should hold a Ph.D in experimental physics with research experience in Renewable Energy or Meteorology. The Department runs a Weather Station and has a wide range of meteorological and solar radiation equipment. The successful applicant will be expected to teach all levels of undergraduate physics up to B.Sc Honours. Previous teaching experience in a developing country will be considered an advantage. SALARY: SENIOR LECTURER, K 21.255 per annum plus gratuity LECTURER 11, K 19.405 per annum plus gratuity LECTURER I, K 17.555 per annum plus gratuity. OTHER CONDITIONS The successful applicant will be offered a contract for a three year appointment. The gratuity entitlement is based on 24 per cent of salary earned and is payable in instalments or lump sum and is taxed at a flat rate of 2 per cent. The University of the South Pacific LECTURER I/SENIOR LECTURER IN ANIMAL SCIENCE - POST 85/33 APPLICATIONS are invited for the above post in the School of Agriculture located at the Alafua Campus in Western Samoa. The appointee will take charge and direct the work of the animal Science section of the School and will be responsible for the co-ordination of the teaching and research of two other members of the lecturing staff who jointly offer courses in animal science to students reading for the diploma in Tropical Agriculture, the Bachelor in Agriculture and the Master of Agriculture by research. He will in addition be responsible for operation and further development of the School’s livestock enterprises for demonstration, research and commercial purposes. Applicants should possess a first degree in Agriculture Animal Science or Veterinary Science with post graduate qualifications preferably at doctorate level in a relevant field of animal science. Research interests in the field of reproductive physiology would complement those of the present staff and meet the needs of the region for improvements in this area. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience in the Lecturer 1 scale: $F13,921-$18,919 or Senior Lecturer scale: $F19,525-$22,815. In addition the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent of basic salary, appointment allowance and subject to the University’s current housing policy, partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 1214 per cent of salary. The University will contribute a sum equivalent to 10 per cent of the appointee’s salary towards his superannuation obligations. Appointment will be for a contract period of three years and may be renewable by mutual agreement.
