Paparua review ready
The review of the Paparua County Council’s District Scheme should come into effect on July 1. The council’s town-plan-ning committee recommended approval of the review on Monday evening and this will be decided at the council’s meeting next week.
The County Planner, Mr Ken Lawn, said that the adoption of the review was the culmination of five
years work. The council had notified the review in August, 1981, and for the last four years had been considering objections, appeals, and making variation.
The council is required to review its District Scheme every five years. The only unresolved matter in the review is the road widening on Curletts Road, between Blenheim Road and the Main South Road. The
scheme review could be approved with the exception of the Curletts Road widening. Mr Lawn said that this particular matter was in the High Court on legal grounds and would take some time to resolve.
Copies of the review will be sent to those organisations specified in the Town and Country Planning Act. Copies will be available for a cost of $l5 each.
