Lyndon Robert for U.S.

By

JEFF SCOTT

The Christchurch businessman, Max Bowden, has sold his tight class pacer Lyndon Robert to North American interests. Lyndon Robert, a former star youngster which still jointly holds the New Zealand three-year-old mile record of Imin 58.95, is to be flown to the United States on June 10, where he will be prepared for racing on the Yonkers and Meadowlands tracks. The five-year-old son of Nardin’s Byrd and Eastwood Estelle goes to North America with a career record of 46 starts for 12 wins, eight seconds and nine thirds for earnings of $78,015 in stakes. Trained at West Melton by Robert Dunn, Lyndon Robert won seven of his 13 starts as a juvenile, including wins in the New Zealand Sapling Stakes and the New Zealand Standardbred Sires’ Produce Final, earning $37,040 in his debut season. Injury interrupted his programme last season after winning a further five as a three-year-old. Also on the flight next month will be the C 6 Rolles-ton-trained mare, Richina; Lochinora, an impressive maiden graduate at Meth-

ven last month from Michael de Filippi’s Broadfield stable; the Oamarutrained C2 pacer Humpty Kent; and a three-year-old qualified maiden by Armbro Del from the same family as Cup class pacer, Direct Kiwi. This quartet will be prepared for racing on the new Garden State mile track, just outside Philadelphia. “Garden State is a replica of the Meadowlands, but is bigger and better,” Mr Bowden said. “It is a multipurpose complex which will be used for the first time by pacers when racing finishes for the season at the Meadowlands.”
