Ambassador to Austria

PA Wellington New Zealand’s next Ambassador to Austria would be Mr Donald Walker, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Lange, yesterday. Resident in Vienna, Mr Walker would be accredited also as Ambassador to Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland and Rumania, said Mr Lange.

Mr Walker will take up his post soon, succeeding Mr

Hugo Judd, who has returned to New Zealand. Mr Walker, who was born in Christchurch and educated at St Andrew’s College and the University of Canterbury, joined the Trade and Industry Department in 1958. He was minister commercial and senior trade commissioner in Washington from 1976 to 1980, and held the same post recently in London.
