Easter egg danger warning to parents
PA Wellington Parents should supervise their children when giving them eggs containing toys this Easter, says the Consumers’ Institute. The institute’s director, Mr Dick Smithies, said the chocolate eggs, marketed as “Surprise” Easter Eggs, contained small toys which might be swallowed by young children.
“Very young children, when opening the eggs, may mistake some of the toys inside for sweets." Mr Smithies said. The toys are wrapped in a plastic bag inside the egg. Most are small enough to be swallowed by a young child. Mr Smithies said that parents buying those eggs for their children should ensure they were opened in their presence.
