Biofilter ready by end of year
A biofilter to eliminate the smell from the Christchurch Drainage Board’s sewage-treatment works should be in use by the end of the year. During the last few months the board had been looking for a source of suitable fibrous peat to act as a filter medium. Although the ideal material had not yet been found mixtures were being studied and a sample of 5 cu m of peat from Southland had been ordered for experimental work, Mr Hunt said.
