Angora sells at $14,000

Two grade one Angora does which sold at $14,000 and $11,500 topped a goat sale organised by Dalgety • Crown, Ltd, in Christchurch yesterday. The bulk of the yarding of almost 400 goats was mostly grade two, three and four does, with only a sprinkling of registered and grade one stock. Many grade two and three does were bought by an Auckland stock agent. Most of the other buying power came from local farmers, although bidding was generally quiet. Several lots of grade three does were passed in. The two top-priced grade one does were sold on behalf of J. G. and H. E. Gunn, of Darfield. The Gunns sold another grade one doe at $4OOO, and two grade one bucks at

$3OOO each. A grade one doe from R. O. Meaclem, Christchurch, made $10,500. The only registered doe in the yarding was passed in at $15,000. Grade two does sold between $2200 and $3500 and grade two doe kids were $lOOO to $l6OO. Grade three does made $450 to $9OO, and grade three doe kids $250 to $750. Two registered bucks failed to find buyers at $19,000 and $15,000. A third was sold at $10,500 on behalf of P. R and D. O. Watson. Four grade one bucks ranged from $7OO to $3OOO, grade one buck kids were $325 to $6OO, and grade three and four buck kids made $5O. Almost 70 feral does sold between $lO5 and $125.
