Vamoos wins harbour race
John Dyksma’s Vamoos captured handicap honours in the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club’s harbour race, sailed from Lyttelton on Saturday. Second to Vamoos was the well performed yacht Southern Fun (McMillin group), which also took line honours in the first division.
Natural Magic (I. Atkinson and C. Neate) was third on handicap. Fine Arts (J. Fisher), which crossed the line first in the second division, finished in an elapsed time of 2hr 47min 445, ano was the third boat home over all behind Southern Fun (2hr 34min 28s) and Grannv
Apple (2h 47min 10s). The 30 yachts which took part sailed in a nor’ westerly wind of between five and 15 knots. However, it was not a consistent breeze and at times died away considerably. ’ Results.— First division — line honours: Southern Fun (McMillin group). Handicap: Vamoos (J. Dyksma) 1, Southern Fun 2, Natural Magic (I. Atkinson and C. Neate) 3.
Division two — line honours: Fine Arts (J. Fisher). Handicap: Potamus (D. Hart) 1, Truce (D. Kett) 2, Attila the Hun (D. Smithey) 3.
