Kiwi in Tokyo
PA Wellington “Snow” Lupton’s stayer, Kiwi, last evening left Sydney for Tokyo for a tilt at the SNZI.I million Japan Cup. Kiwi left Sydney on a scheduled Qantas flight heading for a week in quarantine preceding a start in the November 25 race. The final key member of Kiwi’s party, the jockey, Jijn Cassidy, will join Lupton in Tokyo closer to race time. He shares Lupton’s confidence in Kiwi’s fitness and was said last evening to be enthusiastic about the horse’s chances in the glamour event Cassidy will stay on after the Japan Cup to ride in a four-race series for invited riders. It was also revealed yesterday that the Austra-lian-domiciled jockey will ride in -a four-race invitation series in South Africa some time next year.
