B. Beamsley chosen
PA Palmerston North The Waverley rider, 1 Bruce Beamsley, has been selected to represent the Awapuni apprentice schoolin the Air New Zealand' Special at Ellerslie on November 24. Beamsley, who is 19, is' apprenticed to the trainer/ Kevin Gray, along with three other successful young riders, Vicki Fechner, Paul Worthington and Eddie Lamb.
He started riding in the 1981-82 season and to date has ridden 33 winners. He spent some time out with injury.
Although he has yet to capture a major event; Beamsley has ridden such' notable horses as La Souvronne and Silver Elm. One of his best horses has been former class-one sprinter, Double Belt, on which he had four wins.
Grant Elliot, aged 18, has already been announced as the representative from the Levin apprentice school.
