New selling method
British Leyland intends to sell its cars in West Germany in shopping centres, or hypermarkets as they are known in that country. A deal has been signed with the Massa market chain, which will retail Minis, Maestros, Montegos and Triumphs at its stores,
all of which are located in shopping centres. Each store will have its own workshop. Using this entirely new marketing approach, British Leyland hopes to gain 20 per cent of the West German car market.
