Saloon car series
PA Tauranga The Aucklanders, Neville Crichton and Wayne Wilkinson, raced to a clear win in the second round of the Benson and Hedges saloon car series at Mt Maunganui on Monday. The pair had it all th6ir own way after several group A cars pulled out and they took their second victory in the series. Wilkinson and Crichton had
qualified their car for pole position with a time of 64s on Saturday. That was four seconds better than last year’s time and was reflected in their 133 laps completed in the allotted two and a half hours. For the last two years the winner has managed only 123 laps. Second was the Holden Commodore of the Aucklander, Bruce Fowler and Kurt Stoneman, and third was the Ford Fairmont V 8 of Robbie Francevic and John Morton.
