Chile co-operation
Co-operation between New Zealand and Chilean forestry interests will help build a major export industry in radiata pine, according to the annual report of the DirectorGeneral of Forests. The two countries have plantation forests and wood Industries that are remarkably similar in size and type, the report says. A Chilean forestry mission visited New Zealand during the year. During the visit an agreement for close co-ordina-tion of forest research, technology, and . commerce was drawn up. The mission included forest scientists, businessmen, university staff, and a member of the Government agency, Institute Forests], A reciprocal visit by New Zealand forestry-sector representatives to Chile is expected.
