Opossum auction
PA Wellington Spirited bidding saw 86,000 opossum skins sold at the third opossum skin sale of the season at Wellington, New Zealand Fur Auctions reported. Bidding was widespread with European buyers dominating, supported by local exportesr and tanners. The first farm-reared fitch were sold at auction with males fetching $lB and females $l5.
Average prices for the sale were large, $8.38; medium, $5.32 and small, $4.14. A range of prices is: Large. — First red brown: $13.10, second: $10.35, third: $6.40. Dark brown: $22.30, $15.05, $6.80. Red neck: $ll, $7.20, $4.65. Pale: $12.30, $9.10, $6.20. Grey: $17.75, $12.15, $6.60. Medium large. — First red brown; $7.30, $6.20, $5.25. Dark brown: $11.20, $8.30, $6.10. Pale: $7.55, $5.25, $4.55. Grey: $11.25, $6.20, $4.80.
