Mount Vernon
Sir,—Your timely leading article of October 2 is to be highly commended. An idea occurred to me, which if practicable would ensure both the raising of the necessary funds for purchasing the property, and the involvement of a large and important section of the city and suburban community in the limited time left to complete the purchase. The present raffle, or a new one sponsored by the business community, could be sold by all shops and also by willing pupils of all city and surrounding schools. This would ensure saturation coverage of households and the public, and also mean that the younger fraternity could look back in future years on a task well done on behalf of their city. — Yours, etc BERNARD W. FAHEY. October 2, 1984.
