Easy run for Tommo’s Tornado

Special correspondent Hastings

Tommo’s Tornado and Exocet, two of the leading Hastings chances at Feeding tomorrow were let off with easy tasks in training at Hastings yesterday morning. Fast work was carried out on the plough. The ground was easy. Tommo’s Tornado worked quietly on his own over 800 m in 50.65. No sectional times could be taken for his gallop as the track was partially covered with fog.

Tommo’s Tornado was a good last-start third over 1200 m at Foxton and is obviously close to winning form again. His regular rider, Kim Treweek, will ride him in tomorrow’s Feilding 10,000. Exocet rounded off his preparation for the Tom Cook Handicap by working with Bonnette over a very easy 600 m in 435. Exocet looks particularly well and has thrived since his godd fourth in the Watties Hastings Centennial Cup. Time honours for the morning went to Sheridan Miss, which sped over 800 m on her own in 49.15, the last 600 m in 36.75. She will line up in the final event at Feilding and must be afforded some chance after a good second at Gisborne two starts back. Our Boyfriend ran two rounds of pacework, speeding up slightly over the last 800 m to clock 57.35, the final 600 m in 42.95. He failed at Hastings last start but the edge had been taken off him when he won at Foxton six days earlier. He should bounce back at short notice.
