Annie Townend’s houses
Sir, — I read with interest the article of August 18, about Annie Townend and her other house. The house which was on Cashmere Hills, and has since been burnt
down, was indeed part of the house which was originally in Sumner. My father, Mr W. H. Williamson, the founder of this company, shifted the house from Sumner using two traction engines and it was re-erected as two houses in Hackthorne Road. It was a contract he was proud of and whenever we drove up Hackthorne Road, the big house was always a point of interest. — Yours, etc., P. WILLIAMSON, Director, W. Williamson Construction ' Company, Ltd. August 29, 1984.
