World records broken
NZPA-Reuter Moscow Tatyana Kazankina, of the Soviet Union, has set a women’s 3000 m world record of Bmin 22.625. She was competing at an athletics meeting in Leningrad, unconnected with the “Friendship-84” games in Moscow. The previous record of Bmin 26.78 s was set by Svetlana Ulmasova, of the
Soviet Union, in Kiev in 1982. © In Czechoslovakia, the Czech, Zdena Silhava, broke the women’s world discus record with a throw of 74.56 m at an international athletics meeting in Trencin, western Slovakia. The previous record of 73.36 m was set by the East German, Irina Meszynski, in Prague nine days ago.
