diameter than those fitted on run-of-the-mill Sierras. Although the car does stop well, I have some reservations about the brakes. There is no doubt that the brakes are right up to their work, but it seemed to me that they went about the job in a rather off-hand .manner.
The power-assisted rack and pinion steering has sufficient feel in it to let the driver know what the front wheels are doing and to place the car with accuracy while cornering. On twisty roads south of Auckland I found that it tended to run a little wide in corners. In one corner I inadvertently ran off the seal into the soft shoulder but had no trouble in recovering without any display of temperament on the car’s part.
