Chch men among new fellows
PA Auckland Two Christchurch men have been elected new Fellows of the Royal Society of New Zealand. Dr David Lloyd, a reader in botany at the University of Canterbury, and Dr Peter Fitzgerald, the director of leukemia research for the cytogenetics unit of the Cancer Society at Christchurch Hospital, were two of five fellows elected. The others are: Professor David Christoffel, an associ-
ate professor of physics at Victoria University; Dr Robert McDowall, of the Fisheries Research Division of the Ministry of Fisheries in Wellington; and Dr Warren Roper, an associate professor of chemistry at Auckland University. Last month, Dr Roper became the first New Zealander to receive the Award for Organo-metallic Chemistry of the Royal Society of Chemistry in Britain.
