Bill seeks change to super limit
Parliamentary reporter For the third time a private members bill will be introduced to Parliament this year trying to extend the 13-week limit on superannuation payments to New Zealanders who travel overseas. Mrs Mary Batchelor,
(Lab., Avon), has asked Auckland’s Young Nationals to support her this year. At their annual conference, the Young Nationals passed a remit also calling for the 13-week limit to be extended. “New Zealanders overseas longer than 13
weeks lose their entire superannuation payments, and this is a mean miserly attitude by the Government,” Mrs Batchelor said. She invited Auckland’s Young Nationals to join her in a deputation to the Government to get the situation changed as soon as possible.
