Linwood stayed within reach of the two leading teams with the fourth “10-pointer" of the evening, although Craig Hibbert’s win over Mark Crosbie (Burnside I) was a very closerun thing, and he was taken to five games for the third week in a’ row. In the women's competition Mount Pleasant extended its lead by two points with a clean sweep over Donnell Jewellers Christchurch. Agnes Huriwai (Christchurh) played well to extend Merle Holland over four games. Mount Pleasant’s closest rival, Linwood, had a weakend line-up, but still managed to win three of its four matches, although Christine Woods had match ball against her in the fourth game of the contest with Kay Gilray (Suburbs).
