Army tactical exercise
About 90 Army officers will take part in a tactical study at Burnham camp and in the Sheffield area this week-end. The study will be coordinated by Major B. J. L. Hewitt, brigade major of the Third Task Force which is conducting the study.
It will involve a seminar on tactical defence at brigade and battalion level using a large polystyrene model of the Sheffield area. The seminar will be followed by a day and a half study 'of defensive manoeuvres in the Sheffield area, where groups of the
officers, who are mainly from South Island units, will be asked to solve problems based on a realistic conventional war scenario. Colonel M. J. Dudman, commander of the Third Task Force, will direct the tactical study.
