Heavy win for N.Z.U.

The New Zealand Universities men’s hockey team had a good run-up to its test tomorrow by convincingly beating a team from the University of New England, 10-0, at Woolongong yesterday. Pym Borren scored three times, Peter Tynan scored twice and the other goalscorers were Glen Elliott, Mark Penman, Matt Slark, Noel Parkin and John Melhuish. The team combined well

on a difficult surface to score seven goals in the second half. Parkin, Borren and Slark played particularly well on attack, while Greg Pierce had another excellent match at centre half.

The match concluded with Melhuish, the goalkeeper, converting a penalty stroke. The test tomorrow will be played at Woolongong against the Australian Universities team.
