Arkwright pulls out

NZPA-PA London Another Great Britain rugby league squad member has pulled out of the tour of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Chris Arkwright, a 25-year-old St Helens player, withdrew after a specialist’s check up on an injured knee.

A British Rugby League spokesman said: “We have been advised that knee trouble will prevent the

player from undertaking all the demands of the tour.” Terry Flanagan, the Oldham captain and loose foward, who has made two Great Britain test appearances, fills the vacancy. Arkwright is the third player to lose the chance to tour, with injury stopping the proposed tour captain, Trevor Skerrett, and a six months’ suspension ruling out the veteran prop, Len Casey.
