Easter and Anzac Day
Sir, — Readers will recall that the leading article of April 21 expressed clear convictions that Easter and Anzac Day were not worthily remembered or observed in the community as a whole. But while it offered a reason — lack of faith in Christ’s sacrifice, and a concentration on secular good works instead — it offered no hope or suggestions for improvement. Som| have indeed lost vigour be-
cause they have become secularist, forgetting that salvation depends on Christ’s work, plus nothing. However, there is still hope because Christianity is God’s project, and its success does not depend solely on the numbers who make the correct outward responses. Also, I suggest that secularist Christians consider again “the resurrection factor.” Josh McDowell’s book may help — or “Miracles,” by C. S. Lewis, or “Layman’s Answer,” by E. M. Blaicklock. — Yours, etc., JOHN CANHAM. May 2, 1984.
