Soccer draw made soon
NZPA-AFP Los Angeles The draw for the first round of the Los Angeles Olympic soccer tournament will be made in Pasadena on May 2 by Joseph Blatter, the general secretary of the International Football Federation. Four countries will be named as seeds and will head the four groups. The draw will allot the other twelve countries into the groups. Organisers said the draw will be random, with the
proviso that, where possible, two teams from the same continent will not be paired as opponents in the first round. The first two teams in each group will qualify for the quarter-finals on August 5 and 6 at the Pasadena Rose Bowl and Palo Alto. The semi-finals take place at the same stadiums on August 8, with the playoff for third plaice and the final at the Rose Bowl on August 10 and 11 respectively.
