U.S. swimmers set records

Visiting Americans again dominated the first international masters swimming championships at Queen Elizabeth II Park yesterday. Mike Bottom who set a record in the 25 to 29 years age-group on Wednesday in the 100 m butterfly, yesterday equalled the 50m butterfly record with a time of 25.165. Al Kallunki, a determined 80-year-old from Hawaii, continued in his record breaking form when he set a new time for his age-group in the gruelling 400 m medley. Kallunki covered the distance in lOmin 44.82 s taking 3.58 s off the previous record. Tim Garton from the Rocky Mountain Masters club took 0.16 s off the men’s 40 to 44 years age-group 200 m freestyle record.
