M.P. quits lay post
PA Auckland The Minister of Education, Mr Wellington, has resigned from the Papakura congregation of the Methodist Church, where he was a lay preacher. The congregation’s minister, the Rev. Philip Taylor, said yesterday that a letter
of resignation had been “graciously accepted” but he would not reveal the letter’s exact contents. Mr Wellington was in Christchurch yesterday and would not comment on his resignation. He had last taken a service about 12 months ago, Mr Taylor said.
