Remand on vehicle arson charge
On a charge of wilfully setting fire to a utility vehicle valued at $3500, a man, aged 20, was remanded at large to May 1 when he appeared in the District Court on Tuesday. Mr R. M. Naysmith and Mrs H. M. Harkness, Justices of the Peace, granted an application for interim suppression of the defendant’s name.
RECEIVING CHARGE James Kuru Mason, aged 30, a labourer, was remanded on bail to May 1 on a charge of receiving assorted brass ornaments, jewellery, and personal effects, to a total value of $1917, knowing they had been dishonestly obtained. The articles are the property of George Carlyle Browne.
