Upset win to Wanganui
PA New Plymouth A strong second-half performance by Wanganui gave it an upset 23-16 win over Taranaki in the annual Anzac Day rugby match at Rugby Park, New Plymouth, yesterday. It was Wanganui’s first win in the annual earlyseason match since 1973 and only its second since the
series began in 1967, but there was no doubting its superiority this time. Scorers.— Wanganui: Dennis Koubaridis, Andrew Donald, Dennis Ngatuere tries; Ngatuere a penalty, dropped goal and conversion; Matene Love a dropped goal. Taranaki: Malcolm Olsen, Bryce Robins tries; Duane Gwiazdzinski two penalties.
