Fire in flat
A man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire in his central Christchurch flat last evening. The flat, in a building at the corner of Montreal Street and Worcester Street, was moderately damaged by the fire, said a Fire Service spokesman. Two appliances attended the fire, which began about 9.50 p.m., and it was soon under control. A house on Kidson Terrace, Cashmere, was also moderately damaged by fire last evening. Two appliances were called to the house at 9.54 p.m. The house was occupied, but no-one was hurt.
