Winterbottom banned
NZPA-Reuter Hamilton, Bermuda The Bermuda Government has banned the England rugby international, Peter Winterbottom, from playing in a friendly match at the week-end because he is taking part in the English tour of South Africa in June. A government spokesman said Winterbottom’s decision to tour South Africa breached the Gleneagles Commonwealth agreement against sporting links with that country because of its apartheid policies. “Although Mr Winterbottom will not be allowed to participate in Sunday’s game, he will be treated as a visitor,” the spokesman said.
