Works to save SSM in levies

PA Wellington The freezing industry expects to save about $5 million annually through reductions in. accident compensation levies, according to the Freezing Companies Association’s executive director, Mr Peter Blomfield. He said the savings estimate was based on the $14.2 million the companies paid for the year ended March 31, 1983, at a rate of $2.75 for every $lOO paid to employers in salaries or wages.

“The new levy is $1.75 per $lOO which on the same pay roll would have been $9.1 million — a reduction of $5.1 million,” Mr Blomfield said.
