Mine ‘acceptable’
PA Wellington ,It should be possible to work a proposed gold mine near Thames in an environmentally acceptable way, according to a report on the
project released yesterday. The environmental impact report on the suggested reopening and development
of the Monowai mine with ore treatment facilities at Maratoto has been prepared for Crusader Minerals N.Z. Ltd, by an Auckland consulting firm.
The mine, which has not been worked since 1972, is inside the Coromandel State forest park.
