FRIDAY AUCKLAND MEADOW ROBYN (Race 1), b m, svrs, by Gaines Minbar — Alpine Meadow; trained at Pukekohe by C. AUingham An unlucky second to Ravina Lass at Alexandra Park last Friday, she looks well placed to make amends in FRIDAY STRATFORD GOLDTHORPE (Race 4), blk m, 4yrs by Aythorp e — Gold Fame; trained at Stratford by R. J. Bothwell. Runner-up in last two starts, is poised to record a popular home town win in weak maiden company. SATURDAY AUCKLAND SHAGOLVIN (Race 6) ch f. 3yrs, by Sharivari — Gold Vink; trained at Cambridge by R. C. Lang. Failed over 1600 m in high class field of fillies and mares in Breeders’ Stakes at Te Aroha last time out but had won four on the trot leading up to that race. Should find the opposition in tomorrow’s field a bit easier to match. BEAUMONT BERKOWITZ (Race 1), gr g. 6yrs, by Golden Sam — Ruth Leigh; trained at Wingatui by A. N. Didham. In top form with a win at Riccarton two starts back and a close second to Native Satin at Wingatui last time. Has won on track previously and hard to beat again. HAWKE’S BAY SIMON REBEC (Race 4), br c, 2yrs by Rebec — Tuf; trained at Te Aroha by J. Revell. A strong-finishing second to Our Buddy on the corresponding race on the first day, he looks to be improving again and should go one better here. INVERCARGILL NARDINSKI (Race 5), b c, by Nardin’s Byrd — Gina Marie; trained at Weedons by J. W. Smolenski. The runner-up at Washdyke last Saturday in New Zealand’s first sub 2min race for two-year-olds, but later disqualified. He should gain his reward here. N.Z. METRO SIR CASTLETON (Race 7), b g, 7yrs, by Game Pride — Castleton’s Queen; trained at Winslow by M.S. MacPherson. Started from 35m and won in style over 2600 m on April 4. Has drawn well and should be too good for this field.
