Cricket test drawn
NZPA-AAP Georgetown, Guyana
The first test between Australia and the West In-
dies ended in a draw yester-
day — but not before Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes had threatened to blast the home side to an
unlikely victory.
Set 323 to win in 200 minutes plus 20 overs, the West Indies were 250 for none at the close, with five of the last 20 overs still to be bowled. Greenidge was 120 and Haynes 103. Australia scored 279 and 273 for nine declared. In their first innings the West Indies scored 230.
