Addington market Steady sale for most prime stock classes

Most classes of prime stock — with the exception of hoggets — had a steady sale at the Addington market yesterday. Hogget prices dropped by up to $2 a head compared with last week’s sale. Demand for old ewes and lambs was firm and prime cows had a particularly strong sale in the beef market Prime lambs Lamb prices generally remained on a par with recent rates. However values were always fully firm on recent rates. The yarding of 337 was only five more than last week’s total. Four Friesian in-calf heifers made from $355 to $475, a heifer and calf sold for $4OO and two five-year-old Friesian cows made $460 to $475. Fat pigs Quality was again mixed in a small yarding of fat pigs and values showed little change on last week's good rates. Baconers were in short supply. Slips and small stores, $45 to $55. Large stores, to $63, with odd sales to $69.
