More advts on TV?
PA Wellington Room exists for more advertising on television, according to a report on the advertising industry released in Wellington yesterday.
The report, acting as a blueprint for the next decade, emphasised the need for private television in New Zealand and for more advertising days on the networks. The New Zealand Advertising Agency Association commissioned Sir George Chapman to compile the report for the industry which was released by the association’s president, Mr Hylton Mackley.
He said there was evidence from Australia of a high level of viewer support for commercial television, and that Sunday advertising had been well established on radio and television for many years across the Tasman.
“Most viewers chose the channel they wish to view because of the programmes being screened rather than whether there is advertising on that particular channel,” he said.
