Encroachment on roadways
Sir,—Hereford Street is one of the busiest streets in the centre city, so why have there been extra concrete encroachments on to the
already narrow street, especially near the Woolworth’s back entrance? It is a real bottleneck, a car driver’s headache and a cyclist’s nightmare. Also on Worcester Street, east of Stanmore Road, great concrete kerbs extend on to the main thoroughfare, plus big wide footpaths on each, totally unnecessary in a suburb. The money the council is giving to the Mayor and some councillors to go to China would be better spent on removing these ridiculous obstructions and all ratepayers would be a lot happier.—Yours, etc.,
B. McNABB. March 4, 1984.
