$70,000 sponsorship
The appeal for the New Zealand Olympic Games team benefited by another $70,000 at the week-end with the announcement of a sponsorship from Fisher and Paykel. The cheque was presented to the chairman of the Olympic committee, Mr Lance Cross, at Lake Karapiro on Saturday, by the managing director of the
company, Mr Don Rowlands. The presentation took place during the New Zealand rowing championships. Mr Rowlands, himself well known in rowing, said the contribution was made as part of Fisher and Paykel’s fiftieth anniversary celebrations. It is the company’s first official sponsorship of sport
