Malaysian ban on monkey export
Sir,—What marvellous and encouraging news “The Press” brought this morning of the Malaysian Government’s decision to ban the export of monkeys for research purposes for five years. The cruel and barbaric experiments these creatures are subjected to in providing information to the Defence Department, as in the United States and probably other countries, leave one despairing at the depravity of mankind. I applaud the Malaysian Government for this ban. I strongly urge readers to write to both the Philippine and Indonesian Governments to lend support to Malaysia’s efforts and encourage them also to stop the exporting of monkeys. — Yours, etc., B. DUFF. February 27, 1984.
